Boston Town resume their 58-year rivalry with Long Eaton United on Tuesday (29 September).
The Poachers travel to Derbyshire to face a team who are without a win in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Midlands Division so far this season and are bottom of the table.
Remarkably, the last four seasons that our clubs have competed in the same league together, it’s been in a different league each time.
In 2021-22 we lost home and away to Long Eaton as they powered to the United Counties League Premier North title.
We also had one season together in the Central Midlands League Supreme Division in 1989-90.
Before that our clubs were both members of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division for two seasons from 1985 to 1986.
From 1968 to 1982, we also played Long Eaton in the Midland League.
The Poachers have an unhappy recent record at Grange Park, having lost on each of their last seven visits there.
Our most recent encounter was an away FA Cup tie in August 2024 which Long Eaton won 3-2, despite goals by Fraser Bayliss and Harry Limb.
The last time we won at Long Eaton was a 3-0 Midland League success in January 1982, with two goals from Martin Johnson and one from Ian Rogers.
Kick-off on Tuesday is at 7.45pm.
