Saturday’s goalfest was the first time Boston Town have been involved in such a high-scoring draw for eight years.
The last time we finished 4-4 was in October 2014 when we came back from 4-0 down at Holbeach in a county cup tie. On that occasion though, we were knocked out on penalties.
The stirring fightback at Quorn was only the eighth time the Poachers have drawn 4-4 in their history – but those are eclipsed by two even more astonishing 5-5 epics.
The first was at Fakenham in October 1993 at the start of the FA Vase run that nearly took us to Wembley. And in September 2005, Boston Town also drew 5-5 at home to Desborough, with club legends Gary Bull and Toby Scotney scoring two apiece.
