Boston Town bowed out of the Lincs Senior Cup in their first ever tie in the competition.
But they put up a spirited showing against a side who are flying high at the top of the Northern Premier League Premier Division table.
The Owls scored the only goal of the game after 31 minutes when Aaron Braithwaite fired a long-range shot into the top corner.
Despite the defeat, Poachers manager Chris Funnell said he was really proud of his side’s performance.
“We spoke to the group about being resilient, having good defensive shape, being robust, having energy and I thought we had it in abundance,” he said.
On Saturday (19 September), Boston Town make their first ever trip to Bedworth United.
The two clubs have previously only met twice before – both times in the FA Trophy.
Kick-off for Saturday’s league fixture will be at 3pm.
On Tuesday (22 September), the Poachers are at home to Barwell in another league fixture. Kick-off at the Mortgages For You Stadium will be at 7.45pm.
