We switch focus on Tuesday evening to the Lincolnshire Senior Cup when we host Cleethorpes Town.
It promises to be an exciting encounter – not only is a first ever meeting between the two clubs, but it’s also our first ever tie in the county’s premier knockout competition.
And if any further incentive was needed, the winners will play Boston United away in the quarter-final. Remember, the town’s two senior clubs have only ever played each once before in a competitive match – that was in the FA Cup in 1970 when the Pilgrims won 4-0 in front of a record crowd of 2,700 at Tattershall Road.
Cleethorpes will be strong favourites to progress. They’ve made a very strong start to the season and are top of the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division table after winning 7 and losing only one of their first 9 games.
Boston Town had an excellent recent record in the Lincs Senior Trophy. They reached the semi-final last year, won it in 2022-23 and only lost the final the following year on penalties.
